The World-Renowned TJC Mango

Cultivar: TomEJC — Celebrated globally for size, luscious golden skin, low fiber, and sublime sweetness.

World’s Biggest, Juiciest Mango

TJC Mango® is probably the world’s biggest, juiciest mango! The average weight of a fruit is 600g, but fruit weighing over one kilogram are not uncommon.

TJC Mango® is a lovely golden fruit with a beautiful skin. It has excellent flavor, low fibre content and a smooth fleshy pulp. The small seed means there is more flesh to eat. The fruit ripens slowly giving time for the produce to reach the market in prime condition.

Origin of the TomEJC Mango

The TomEJC mango was discovered by Tom Ellawala in the early 1990s among a collection of local and introduced mango varieties growing in his orchard. Over a decade, he propagated and evaluated numerous plants, selecting the variety that would later be named TomEJC.

The variety received formal recognition by the Department of Agriculture in 2003 and has since become a preferred variety in Sri Lanka's Dry and Intermediate Zones.

Well adapted to dry-zone conditions, TomEJC is distinguished by its high-quality fruit, regular and heavy yields, long harvesting season, and strong performance in terms of fruit quality, productivity, pest and disease resistance, and export market acceptance.
